Extinct Species Collection

Our eco-system is comprised of interdependent animals and plants which constitute a complex web of life, where the extinction of a single species may affect the whole biological system pertaining to life and living things. The reasons for this threat to marine life are varied, but mostly due to irrational human behaviour and activities: extensive overfishing and pervasive water pollution, the rising of the ocean’s temperatures. Because of the oceanic impacts of global warming, we could be facing a sweeping loss of species in the near future. The collection does not wish to be a prediction or a snapshot of future’s memories, but more of a meditation upon the beauty of marine life that could extinct, trying to bring awareness and to find new ways to engage people in thinking and taking action on critical issues of climate change and extinction due to human intervention. We shouldn’t build monuments for mourning the past, for what we cannot change, but for now, while we can still change the present course of marine life.

Based in the heart of the historical center of Athens, Popeye loves Olive Art Space is dedicated to promoting the Art of Contemporary Jewelry.

Our mission is to propose to both wider and specialized audiences, the most cutting edge jewelry, based on the evaluation of their craftsmanship, quality, concept, form and artistic value. We are the advocates of this inspiring field in Greece.

We create space for an open dialogue and a meeting place for local and international artists, designers and creative minds. We present the work of emerging and established artists through solo, group exhibitions, selected projects and we publish our own catalogs.

We wish to embrace the unique, controversial, sentimental, progressive, political and sometimes extreme work of the jewelry field!
