Wencke Uhl
Wencke is a contemporary and mainly self-taught artist living and working in Cologne, Germany. Her work revolves around portraying women in everyday contexts and intimate moments while often abstracting them through excessive patterning.
Being inspired by the world of fashion and design, the female figure is as important in focus as it is in the background, both elements complementing each other to form an overall composition.
Wencke paints with bright vivid colours in acrylic and oil and often uses decoupage. Moreover, she is intrigued by the “dripping technique” and the natural shapes it creates, which she uses as a recurring signature feature. Her work is sold throughout Germany as well as internationally to the UK, Cyprus, California and Florida.
