Holmes Chai
Holmes Chai was born in Sarawak, Malaysia in 1981. Throughout his life, he has always been fascinated by the culture of Chinese in calligraphy and painting. This interest was cultivated during his teenage years and further developed when he opted to take his diploma in fine art. After completing his diploma, Chai delved even more into his artistic practice which involved the destruction of forms with stroke. The humanity of human beings is always a core theme for Chai to keep creating his ongoing artwork. Chai was one of the winners in the UOB Painting of the Year emerging artist category gold awards in 2018. His series yu-lan Expression 1 & 2 has been collected by UOB Malaysia.
