The string art currently have few artists practicing it as many views it as hard work due to its painstaking and time-consuming process. but I see it as fun because I derived Joy from it. Having studied the style and technique of contemporary Nigerian thread artists like Bisi Fabunmi and Oloruntoba who are distinguished for their abstract paintings and use of African motifs with thread as a medium, I have been able to create string art in my own style breaking away from the conventional abstract thread painting approach, giving attention to details, painterly effect as well as infusing motifs into the background.
My subject matters are often inspired by socio-cultural activities and events within the community while my ideas are expressed using threads for figures, landscapes and portrait paintings.
In close to 10 years of discovering string art technique, I have found it to be a way of mindful practice because it requires full concentration. This is why I prescribe it as a panacea to depression and other related issues is our society.
My appreciation for string art has made me to further carry out more exploration for future exhibitions.
I hope that your experience with this unique art forms will be a beautiful ride.
Thank you
